Traditional Karate Training – Discipline – Respect – Confidence

Lawton, Oklahoma

A Message from the Dojo

Thank you to every student and family who continues to support Keikukan Dojo. Progress in karate is built one class at a time—through consistent attendance, focused practice, respect for others, and a willingness to improve.

Whether you are a beginner taking your first steps on the dojo floor or an advanced student working toward your next rank, remember that karate training develops much more than kicking and punching. It builds confidence, self-control, fitness, awareness, perseverance, and strong character.

Let’s continue to train hard, support one another, and represent Keikukan Dojo with pride both inside and outside the dojo.

Training Focus This Month

This month, students will be working on:

•               Proper stances, balance, and body posture

•               Strong basics: blocks, punches, strikes, and kicks

•               Kata practice and understanding the meaning behind movements

•               Kumite control, timing, distance, and safety

•               Self-defense awareness and confidence

•               Dojo etiquette, respect, and leadership

At-Home Practice Challenge

Students are encouraged to practice for 10–15 minutes, three times per week at home.

A simple look at a standard training session:

1.              Bowing ceremony (begin class)

2.              Practice Kihon for each level

3.              Perform kata with proper techniques.

4.              Practice bunkai application

5.              Perform weapons katas for each level

6.              recite dojo kun

7.   Bowing ceremony (end of class)

Quality practice is more important than rushing. Focus on good form, balance, breathing, and discipline.
